Air Tahiti Nui orders 787-9 instead of A350s to replace A340s.

French Polynesian flag carrier Air Tahiti Nui has confirmed that will replace its 5 Airbus A340 quad-engine jet fleet with 4 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

The airline will buy 2 aircraft and lease 2 others in a deal valued at $514 million.

The carrier had been looking at the 787, the A330neo and A350 for its fleet upgrade.

Delivery of the first aircraft will start in Q4/2018, which will coincide with Air Tahiti Nui’s 20th anniversary.
